Educator Endorsement and Licensing Information:
NUES through a partnership with Southern Utah University Graduate Studies in Education provides additional endorsement opportunities for educators.
Current Endorsements:
ESL Endorsement (5 courses): You can start courses at any time. Available at no cost for NUES Region educators. $50 per course for Utah educators outside of NUES Region. *SUU course credit fees may apply. Contact: Jason@nucenter.org
Educational Technology Endorsement (4 areas of competency): On-line, available 24/7, available at no cost for NUES Region educators. $50 per course for Utah educators outside of NUES Region. Contact: Kathleen@nucenter.org
Instructional Coaching Endorsement (3 courses): This endorsement is intended to recognize the efforts and capacity for educators to engage in effective, job embedded professional learning facilitation that improves practice and impacts positive student outcomes. Those who earn this endorsement have engaged in experience and professional learning to strengthen their ability to build educator practice that will support the success of students, educators, schools, and districts. Mentor Endorsement (4 courses): The Utah Teacher Mentor Endorsement recognizes educators with proven expertise in supporting and guiding new teachers, contributing to their professional growth and retention. It signifies a mentor’s understanding of the six core roles of a teacher mentor and their ability to foster a positive and productive learning environment for early-career educators. K-12 Literacy Specialist Endorsement (6 courses): The K-12 Literacy Specialist endorsement in Utah ensures that an educator possesses the necessary competencies to work as a literacy specialist, coordinator, or director in public schools. This endorsement, when attached to a current Educator License with Elementary, Secondary, or Special Education, requires demonstration of knowledge in foundational literacy concepts, school-wide professional learning, and program development. It also involves skills in designing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based literacy instruction and interventions, as well as leading professional development. Contact: piper@nucenter.org
