Northeastern Utah Educational Services (NUES) supports rural districts and charter schools with high-quality instructional services, professional learning, and student programming. We are seeking a collaborative, innovative professional to support regional K–12 media literacy, library supports (including sensitive materials reviews), and instructional alignment.
Position Summary
The Library/Media Literacy Specialist will provide leadership and coordination in K–12 media literacy, library support, media literacy, instructional materials oversight, and digital resource support across the NUES region. This role will serve students, educators, and families while helping LEAs strengthen consistent practices in media literacy and library education.
This is a service-oriented, multi-district support position that combines instructional expertise, digital resource management, and family engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional & Library Services
- Provide oversight and guidance for instructional and library sensitive materials policies and curation.
- Assist with development and alignment of secondary ELA course resources and research skills instruction.
- Support educators working toward or completing Library/Media endorsement requirements.
Media Literacy Leadership
- Facilitate the News Media Literacy Fellowship, including teacher support, student programming, and curriculum integration.
- Collaborate with schools to embed media literacy and digital citizenship into classroom instruction.
Digital Resource Support
- Provide training and troubleshooting for SORA and related digital library platforms.
- Assist educators and families in effective use of online reading and research tools.
Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as Family Liaison for K–12 Literacy, offering guidance, communication, and resources that strengthen reading practices at home.
- Coordinate family-focused literacy outreach, workshops, and digital access support.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Utah teaching license (or ability to obtain)
- Background in literacy, media literacy, library services, or english language arts education
- Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with educators and families
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to travel across the northeast region
Preferred:
- Library/Media endorsement (or willingness to pursue)
- Experience with secondary ELA curriculum
- Familiarity with SORA or similar digital library systems
- Experience providing professional learning or school staff support
Funding & Position Structure
This position is funded through grants, and is an annual contract, dependent on available funding.

Northeastern Utah Educational Services (NUES) is presently accepting applications for the full-time, salaried position of the NUES Region School Wellness & Safety Coordinator.
Job Title: School Wellness & Safety Coordinator
The School Wellness & Safety Coordinator will lead and coordinate mental health and wellness initiatives across all Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in the Northeastern Utah region. This role will implement a regional telehealth infrastructure, manage mental health screening programs, and provide leadership in crisis prevention and school safety training. The position is designed to ensure equitable access to licensed mental health services for students and staff in rural communities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Program Coordination:
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive regional wellness strategy aligned with state and federal guidelines.
- Coordinate mental health and wellness programs across multiple LEAs.
- Telehealth Implementation:
- Design and manage a regional telehealth infrastructure for school-based mental health services.
- Ensure compliance with privacy and security standards (HIPAA, FERPA).
- Screening and Intervention:
- Implement standardized mental health screening protocols for early identification of student needs.
- Collaborate with school counselors and administrators to connect students to appropriate interventions.
- Training and Crisis Prevention:
- Lead professional development for educators on crisis prevention, intervention, and school safety, including CSTAG (Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines).
- Facilitate child abuse prevention training for school communities in the region.
- Serve as a resource for trauma-informed practices and emergency response planning.
- Collaboration and Advocacy:
- Act as a liaison between schools, families, and external mental health providers.
- Advocate for student wellness and mental health equity across the region.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
- Current Utah licensure as one of the following:
- Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in school-based mental health services.
- Knowledge of crisis prevention, school safety protocols, and trauma-informed practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing telehealth programs in educational settings.
- Familiarity with rural education challenges and multi-LEA coordination.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including school administrators, counselors, mental health providers, and community partners.
- Experience facilitating cross‑agency teamwork, building consensus, and leading collaborative initiatives across multiple schools or districts.
- Proven skills in partnership development, including the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships that support regional wellness goals.

Position Overview:
NUES is seeking a dedicated and experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to support the behavioral and educational needs of students across our member districts. The BCBA will work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and families to implement evidence-based behavioral interventions and strategies that promote positive student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and develop behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
- Provide direct support and consultation to school teams regarding behavioral strategies and implementation
- Train and coach school staff in behavior management techniques and data collection
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior plans and adjust as needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support students with behavioral challenges
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with ethical and professional standards
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)
- Master’s degree in behavior analysis, psychology, education, or related field
- Experience working in educational settings preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to travel within the NUES region as needed
