PreK-12 Learning Coach
LOCATION: Northeastern Utah Educational Services (NUES)
JOB TYPE: Licensed Educator
SALARY RANGE: TBD based on experience; Similar to WCSD salaries Teacher Salary Schedule (Wasatch County School District manages our Employee Payroll) CONTRACT: 180-200 Day Contract (negotiable)
DESCRIPTION:
A PreK-12 Learning Coach works with Preschool through Grade 12 educators in districts and charters within a regional area to improve English Language Arts and Mathematics outcomes. The NUES Learning Coach works with teachers, coaches, and administrators to implement effective instructional strategies, analyze data, and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.
They will focus on implementation of the Utah Core Standards with evidence-based literacy and numeracy practices using district or charter adopted curriculum and tools. The NUES Learning Coach will provide sustained support to educators through a continuum of coaching and professional learning opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university; Master’s degree preferred. ● Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
● Current teaching license.
● Endorsements preferred (or willingness to earn):
o Instructional Coaching Endorsement
o Literacy Specialist Endorsement
o Mathematics Specialist Endorsement
o English as a Second Language Endorsement.
● LETRS-trained preferred (or willingness to earn).
● Experience in research-based instructional practices.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
● Demonstrated knowledge of relevant content standards.
● Previous coaching or teacher leadership experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
● Coaching and Mentoring:
Provide personalized support to teachers, building collaborative relationships and offering guidance on best practices.
● Science of Reading:
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Science of Reading (SoR) with the ability to model and coach best practices related to SoR.
● Professional Development:
Design and deliver professional learning opportunities, including workshops, training sessions, and coaching, to enhance educator skills and knowledge.
● Data Analysis and Instructional Decision-Making:
Assist educators and administrators in analyzing data to inform instructional decisions and improve student learning.
● Curriculum and Instruction:
Collaborate with curriculum directors, coaches, and administrators to implement and refine instructional strategies, aligning them with district goals.
● Collaboration and Communication:
Work effectively with teachers, administrators, and other education staff to ensure alignment and support. Communicating information and professional learning from USBE to administrators and coaches.
● Supporting Tiered Instruction (MTSS):
Provide guidance and resources to support educators in implementing tiered instruction, where students receive different levels of support based on their individual needs. Facilitate school teams using the MTSS problem-solving process to identify student needs, develop interventions, and monitor student progress. ● Special Education Support:
In some cases, PreK-12 Learning Coaches may also support special education systems, helping to implement best practices and ensure compliance.
The PreK-12 Learning Coach acts as a facilitator and partner for districts and schools, working with leadership and coaches to improve instruction and support student success across a larger geographical area than a single school.
One position is available, service area will be determined once the position is staffed.
