Job Description:

Reading and writing are critical life-long skills taught in our schools.  Proficiency in reading and writing is vital to succeed in school, progress in careers, encourage development of hobbies and interests, and keep current with the world around us.  As the K-12 Language Arts Specialist for NUES, it is my assignment to stay up-to-date with language arts research and instructional strategies then disperse that information to regional educators and administrators through visits, professional development, and modeled lessons in the classrooms.  It is my opportunity to support educators in providing quality research-based language arts instruction to students.

Educational Background:

  • M.Ed. degree in Elementary Education from Utah State University
  • B.S. degree in Elementary Education with a minor in art from Utah State University
  • ESL endorsement
  • Reading Level I endorsement
  • Currently working on Reading Level II endorsement

Occupational/Industry Experience:

  • Calligraphy Instructor for Central Arizona Community College
  • Instructor and Facilitator for Utah State University (Uintah Basin) Challenge Course
  • Elementary Teacher--various grade levels
  • Reading Coach

  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
  • Married with five children and two adorable grandsons
  • Like outdoor activities—especially water sports
